It’s Raining, It’s Pouring

O.K., so it’s not actually raining at the moment, but we've had several days of torrential downpours this week. After ruining my favorite flats wading through the puddles, getting children in and out of the car during preschool drop-off, it’s become clear that I need to invest in more appropriate wet weather footwear.

One obvious choice is the ubiquitous Hunter Rain Boot that would make any preppy girl swoon.

But there are a wealth of other cute options as well.

Friday Favorites: Nude Heels

These won’t be the flashiest shoes in your closet, but they will be the most versatile. When it comes to creating a long-legged look that goes with everything from a printed wrap dress to a navy pantsuit, nude heels can’t miss.

Here are a few of my current favorites in various price ranges:

Christian Louboutin Elisa Patent Pump, $625.00

Stuart Weitzman Platswoon, $298.00

Nine West Bonfire, $89.00

Enzo Agiolini Starlite Platform Pumps, $79.95

Franco Sarto Napoli, On Sale for $73.95 at Zappos.com

Practicality Aside…

Aren’t these Kerrington Ballet Flats from J. Crew heavenly? In my fantasies, I am wearing these with a white sundress, a sherbet-hued cardigan and a perfect pair of pearl earrings. I am running errands and taking the kids to playdates in the park, never stepping in a mud puddle or having little ones drop their snacks on my perfect silk and cotton-clad toes. A girl can dream, right?

(And LPC, if you’re reading this, you should know that yes, I even want to wear prints on my shoes. Does this make me the Artsy Cousin?)

Am I the Only One?

Okay, I LOVE gorgeous, high-end footwear as much as anyone.  Take this lovely shoe for example:

However, I do not actually own any Christian Louboutin's - yet - because I can't justify the price knowing how quickly they will get scuffed up - and well, just basically really, really worn (inside and out).  I keep reading posts on other blogs about people wearing their VERY FAVORITE pair of super high-end shoes over and over for years on end and how they still look great. What am I missing? I can't be the only clutz around who somehow bangs up her shoes, can I?

Am I the only one who is rough on shoes?

Fabulous, No?

I adore fun shoes.  Footwear in a beautiful color or with exquisite detailing can easily elevate a basic outfit from "just okay" to total "wow" status.  And these Lizard Embossed Revas with their gorgeous metallic accents are calling my name.  Imagine these with a simple khaki shirtdress.  Or perhaps a pair of white pants, a white tee, and a bright cardigan thrown over your shoulders. Comfortable? Yes.  Boring?  Never!

My husband, on the other hand, thinks this shoe is ugly.  (Ms. Burch, I offer my sincerest apologies.)

What do you think?  Yea or nay?
